To get the tray level, I actually used some large nuts between the body and the tray, since the body surface is actually angled.. Shot from underneath shows the four bolts, done up tight, then sprayed with body deadener (kinda bitumen stuff) to a) keep them from rusting, and b) stop them coming undone..
The new battery fits perfectly in the tray:
However I think I’m going to need to make some mods to that top clamp bracket – it’s sticking into the bonnet padding, and making it hard to close the bonnet:
